LSCBA Competition Secretary Report 2022
2022 saw a change for all of us as the administration and bowlers as the online system for the draws, inputting results and entering your teams. For the most part it worked really well. It just needs all bowlers to embrace it as it's a fantastic system, you no longer have to rely on the competition secretary telling who you are playing . It's also a lot less work for the Comp Sec.
The competitions went really well with a few defaults and walkovers as usual. The Finals day was once again held at Bounds Green, there were some excellent matches . The whole day went very well and my thanks go to Bounds Green for their organisation on the day, this was the first time we didn’t have a meal at lunchtime and evening. All presentations were done on the green and this proved popular among the bowlers.
This year will have the continuation of the online system, I’m sure more bowlers will embrace it. There see’s a change in our finals day venue for the first time in many years, the plan is to move finals each year, One year south of the Thames, then north. We are hoping to set up a rota of 6 suitable clubs within or close to the M25 to make access easier for all the bowlers.
This year the finals will be held at Southey Bowling Club. We will be on the search to find a club to host in 2024, any ideas I will gratefully receive.
This will be my first year as the competition secretary for all 4 areas and I’ll look forward to working with you. Please remember i’m a competitive bowler so I understand the challenges .
